Wow, so I've been off for 5 days...and out of the last two weeks I've only worked 3.5 days. Needless to say, it wasn't easy dragging myself out of bed this morning when the alarm rudely interrupted my sleep...but it had to be done. Also needless to say is that I got some really descent riding in during these past two weeks.
Wed (New Year's Eve) we tried to plan a big ride up to Portland and into NJ. After mostly everyone bailing, and the weather looking grim...it was clear that a road ride wasn't going to happen with the impending winds and snow. So what do you do?

I'll take Cross Bikes for the win! Me, Bill, and Dan busted out the cross bikes and headed to the canal/tow path from Easton to Sand Island in Bethlehem. It wasn't that bad since we had some shelter from the wind, but the snow was coming down pretty good. It would have been miserable on the road.
Fri the usual crew headed out again, this time we headed up to Minsi and hooked up with LVG. We continued onto Portland and back down the river to Belvidere, NJ. Crazy windy and cold, of course.
Sat I did the RF winter training ride, rolling out from my chateau as he lives about a mile up the road from me. We had a good sized group, 8 in total, and again headed north to Minsi. After we got around the lake, Bill, Dan, and myself split from the group. Bill KILLED it the whole way home...it was an absolute death march. Good times.
Feeling a bit tapped from the death march and the big mileage of the two weeks, I was looking for something chill yesterday so I did the good ol' Tour de Milford ride. It was pretty mellow, just what I needed...though there were a few spirited spots during the ride. It was the good end for a great block of training.
A few observations from the past two weeks:
1)I hate the winter
2)I hate having to clean my bike after a ride...especially back to back days.
3)I've been using Mad Alchemy like it was doing out of style
4)I've been going through those hand warmer packs like they were Mad Alchemy
5)Freezing cold, snow, windy...whatever. It still beats being at work and Trainerville

My wife picked up some of those hand warmer packs on sale at either TJ Maxx or Marhalls. It was a pretty good deal, I think it worked out to a $1 a pair.
Check there for some deals. They were with the golfing stuff.

Thanks Matt. I actually found them in a bulk pack / case at Sam's Club two years ago, still working my way through that.
No matter where you find them, they're clutch.
Stay warm.
Sierra Trading Post also blows them out on occasion. Check out their online deals.
I ride without gloves in the winter. It makes me strong.
I've been riding naked with the exception of slathering my body in Mad Alchemy...That stuff really works. I get a little sweaty while riding with it in 20 degree weather.
I wear tighty whiteys under my bib. The cotton absorbs the sweat much better than spandex.
